I had a play around with Google’s Deep Dream using an online app. It seems that it puts a lot of dog faces into images with patterns in them. That doesn’t really make me think of a dream and it’s not really what I would describe as AI. It’s more pattern matching. If all AI can come up with is dog faces then we don’t have to worry about Skynet very much.
However, I kept experimenting and eventually I came up with one image where I thought Deep Dream had added value. This is the 35mm original image, not even corrected for orientation or exposure:

It’s interesting how it it interprets the building but overall I’m not sold on it. Have you any Deep Dream images, link to them in a comment if you’d like to share.
