Software Please

I’m looking for some free or cheap photo editing software.

I’ve been using an old version of Photoshop for years and don’t want to keep going back to it. I don’t like GIMP but could use it if I had to.

Any suggestions greatfully appreciated.

Check out Luminar. It offers an abundance of editing tools, filters, and is relatively easy to learn. Has everything the NIK collection has to offer.

Consider Affinity Photo, as well as Photoshop Elements w/Elements+

I use PaintshopPro from Corel. Much cheaper than PhotoShop.

I also use a number of free plug-ins that are useful. I included a list of these on my Photography blog.

I’ve been using Irfanview for about 14 years. It’s free, doesn’t take up much space, and is very straightforward to use. You might find it doesn’t have everything you need but it’s worth a look. It’s only available for Windows.

I have tried to use GIMP but simply can’t get on with it.

I’m going to take a look. There’s something about GIMP that I just can’t get on with.

That seems to be a popular option.

I was going to suggest Gimp, the latest version is quite good, another one is “darktable”, a few people seem to be using it.

I’ll certainly have another look at Gimp. I don’t know why I’ve never been able to adjust to it because many people recommend it.

I stopped using Lightroom about 8 months ago. Since then I have been using RawTherapee. I stopped using Lightroom because I switched my os from Windows to Ubuntu. Ubuntu is Linux based and Lightroom is not available.
RawTherepee is free and runs well on Ubuntu, I don’t have any experience with the windows version but I would imagine it is similar. Visit https://rawtherapee.com/ and see what you think. I have been happy with it so far.

I use photoshop. It’s only 9.99 a month, which over time can seem expensive. but a lot cheaper than it used to be to upgrade the older versions.

I like photoshop and 9.99 is not a huge amount. I may give it another look but I don’t need the storage. Is Lightroom useful?
