Penshaw

This is a folly – a monument in Britain that apes the classical era but was probably a Victorian construction. They are often not finished although this one was never intended to have a roof or doors. Penshaw Monument is based on the Temple of Hephaestus, although instead of Athens it is in the middle of the North East countryside.
